Vivek Dahiya is an Indian television actor from Chandigarh who swapped a corporate desk for the camera. He is best known as police officer Abhishek Singh in Ekta Kapoor’s Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, the show where he met his wife, actress Divyanka Tripathi, and as the lead of Qayamat Ki Raat. The couple won Nach Baliye 8 in 2017, welcomed twin sons in May 2026, and in October 2026 returned to reality television together on Colors’ Pati Patni Aur Panga 2.

Early Life and Education

Vivek Dahiya was born on 8 November 1984 in Chandigarh, a date given by Wikipedia and matched by Daily Jagran, which points out that his wife Divyanka, born on 14 December 1984, is about a month older than him. He grew up in a Hindu Jat family and still calls the city home: in 2018 he flew in just for a reunion with his school friends, and he has described himself as “a typical Jat” who does not keep things inside.

Acting was not the first plan. He went to England to study at De Montfort University, finishing with an M.Sc. in International Business Management, and came back to a corporate job in Chandigarh. He modelled on and off because the desk job did not make him happy, and by his own count he auditioned around 300 to 400 times before landing his first acting job, as he told The Times of India in a 2019 interview summarised by Filmibeat.

Career

Television debut and Ek Veer Ki Ardaas… Veera

His first screen credit came in 2013 in Bindass’s anthology Yeh Hai Aashiqui, where he played Devesh. In 2014 he joined Star Plus’s Ek Veer Ki Ardaas… Veera as Inspector Rajveer Thakur, written as Veera’s former fiancé, a role he kept into 2015.

Yeh Hai Mohabbatein (2015–2017)

The part that made him a household face was Abhishek Singh, a police officer, in Ekta Kapoor’s Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. Wikipedia’s cast list places him in the show from 2015 to 2017 as Inspector Abhishek Singh, Sarika’s brother, while India Today described the character as ACP Abhishek. The serial starred Divyanka Tripathi as Dr Ishita Bhalla opposite Karan Patel, and it changed Vivek’s personal life as much as his career.

Kavach and Qayamat Ki Raat

In June 2016 Colors launched the supernatural drama Kavach… Kaali Shaktiyon Se with Mona Singh as Paridhi, Vivek as Rajbeer and Sara Khan as Manjulika. His character, Rajbeer Bundela, was Paridhi’s husband and Manjulika’s former lover, the man caught between the two women.

Two years later Balaji Telefilms gave him the lead in Qayamat Ki Raat, which premiered on Star Plus on 23 June 2018 with Karishma Tanna as his co-star. He played Rajvardhan “Raj” Singh Suryavanshi, and over the show’s run into 2019 the part doubled as Raghav Sharma, according to his Wikipedia credits.

Web series and films

Vivek moved to streaming in March 2020 with ZEE5’s State of Siege: 26/11, his web-series debut, in which he played NSG officer Captain Rohit Bagga. He told India Today at the time that he wanted to work in every medium. He returned as the same commando in the film State of Siege: Temple Attack, released on ZEE5 on 9 July 2021 with Akshaye Khanna in the lead, and in 2022 he appeared in the web series Pavitra Rishta 2 as Rajveer.

His first theatrical lead came with Chal Zindagi in 2023, a road-trip film to Leh-Ladakh in which he starred alongside Sanjay Mishra, Mita Vashist, Vivaan Sharma and Vikram Singh, Filmibeat reported in April 2023. He had earlier done a cameo in Jeena Abhi Baaki Hai (2022), and in 2026 he featured in the music video Ishtam.

Reality Shows: Nach Baliye 8 and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11

A year after their wedding, Vivek and Divyanka entered Star Plus’s couples dance contest Nach Baliye 8 and won it. In its finale report of 25 June 2017, The Quint placed Abigail Pande and Sanam Johar second, with Sanaya Irani and Mohit Sehgal in third, and noted that the winners took home the trophy plus a cash prize of Rs 35 lakh. The following year he picked up the Most Fit Actor award at the Gold Awards 2018, shared with Shoaib Ibrahim.

He danced solo in 2023, when India Today named him and Sreerama Chandra as the eleventh and twelfth confirmed contestants of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11. Paired with choreographer Lipsa Acharya, he was the fourth contestant eliminated, leaving the show on 24 December 2023.

Vivek Dahiya in Pati Patni Aur Panga 2 (2026)

Colors and JioHotstar brought back Dhamaal with Pati Patni Aur Panga – Jodiyon Ka Reality Check for a second season with seven celebrity couples, and Daily Jagran listed Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya as the sixth pair. Sonali Bendre and Munawar Faruqui host again, and the show airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9 PM from 10 October 2026, taking over the slot that Khatron Ke Khiladi 15 had held, according to Filmibeat.

It is the couple’s first reality show together since their Nach Baliye win, and their first since the twins arrived. When the line-up was announced, Vivek said that he and Divyanka had always been comfortable with their own rhythm as a couple, but that becoming parents to twins had brought many happy firsts into their lives, The Times of India reported. A few days into the season Divyanka told IANS that she brings the five-month-old boys to the set and that much of her strength comes from Vivek standing by her.

The other pairs on the season are Rahul Vaidya and Disha Parmar, Arjun Bijlani and Neha Swami Bijlani, Shabir Ahluwalia and Kanchi Kaul, Deepika Singh and Rohit Raj Goyal, Manoj Tiwari and Surabhi Tiwari, and Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi. Personal Life: Wife Divyanka Tripathi and Twin Sons

The romance started while both were shooting Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, where Divyanka carried the show as Dr Ishita Bhalla while Vivek was the police officer Abhishek Singh. India Today reported their engagement on 17 January 2016, and they married on 8 July 2016 in a grand ceremony in Bhopal, her hometown. His father, Vivek has said, has often called Divyanka his lucky charm.

A decade later the family grew. In May 2026 the couple announced that they were expecting their first child, and on 26 May 2026 they shared the arrival of twin baby boys in a joint post, with Vivek writing that “The Boys” were here and life already felt more beautiful than they had imagined, as India Today reported. Their tenth wedding anniversary followed on 8 July 2026, the first one with children in the house, and Vivek marked it with a note to his wife, IANS noted. Away from acting he also makes YouTube vlogs.
