Deepika Singh is an Indian television actress who became a household name as IPS officer Sandhya Kothari Rathi in Diya Aur Baati Hum, a role that won her the ITA Award for Best Actress – Popular. She later led Mangal Lakshmi on Colors and made her Hindi film debut with Titu Ambani. In October 2026 she and her husband, director Rohit Raj Goyal, entered Pati Patni Aur Panga 2, their first reality show together as a couple.

Early Life and Education

Deepika Singh was born in New Delhi on 26 July 1989, according to Wikipedia. Long before her television break she had faced the camera as a child, playing Raano in the Punjabi film Dhee Jatt Di (1995) and later appearing in Sikandera (2001). Alongside acting she kept up her studies, earning a Master’s in Business Administration with a marketing specialisation from Punjab Technical University. She is also trained in the classical dance form Odissi.

Career

Diya Aur Baati Hum: the breakthrough

Her first television role was also her biggest. In Diya Aur Baati Hum she played IPS Sandhya Kothari Rathi opposite Anas Rashid, and she stayed with the character from 2011 to 2016. The part proved to be her breakthrough and brought her the ITA Award for Best Actress – Popular as well as the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role.

The director who guided her through those early episodes was Rohit Raj Goyal, the man she would later marry. India Today described him as her former director and the director of Diya Aur Baati Hum.

Return after motherhood

After her son was born she stepped away from acting for a while. She came back in 2019 with Kavach… Mahashivratri, taking on a double role, Sandhya Patwardhan Jindal and Sakshi Patwardhan Salgaonkar, with Namik Paul and Vin Rana as her co-leads. In 2019 she was also seen as lawyer Aamna Sayed in the web show Halala, and she also took part in Kitchen Champion 5 and season 4 of Box Cricket League, having played in the first season of the cricket league back in 2014.

Film debut and Mangal Lakshmi

Singh’s first Hindi feature was Titu Ambani (2022), in which she played Moushumi opposite Tushar Pandey. Her own work was singled out; Rachana Dubey of The Times of India wrote that she “puts out an honest, frill-and-fuss-free performance.” That year she also appeared in the short film Women’s Day Out.

From February 2024 to June 2026 she headlined the Colors serial Mangal Lakshmi as Mangal, opposite Naman Shaw. When she signed up for her next project on the same channel, she called Colors “a second home” in a statement to The Times of India.

Personal Life: Husband Rohit Raj Goyal

Singh and Rohit Raj Goyal first met at work. Their story began in 2011 on the set of a television show where he was directing and she was a newcomer, The Times of India reported in September 2026. Working together turned into friendship and then romance, and the two married on 2 May 2014. After the wedding she began using the name Deepika Singh Goyal.

The couple’s son was born on 20 May 2017 in a Mumbai hospital, India Today reported at the time. She took a short break from acting after his birth.

Pati Patni Aur Panga 2

In September 2026, The Times of India confirmed that Deepika and Rohit had joined Dhamaal With Pati Patni Aur Panga – Jodiyon Ka Reality Check, the second season of the Colors couples show. It is their first reality show as a pair. Singh said the move from fiction to non-fiction would let viewers “see the real Deepika”, while Goyal admitted that, having spent most of his career behind the camera, competing as a contestant was entirely new for him.

The season premiered on 10 October 2026 and airs on Colors TV every Saturday and Sunday at 9 PM, also streaming on JioHotstar, according to Siasat. Sonali Bendre and Munawar Faruqui host it. The seven couples are Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya, Arjun Bijlani and Neha Swami Bijlani, Rahul Vaidya and Disha Parmar, Manoj Tiwari and Surbhi Tiwari, Deepika Singh and Rohit Raj Goyal, Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi, and Shabir Ahluwalia and Kanchi Kaul.
