Bidipta comes from Kolkata in West Bengal. A South African newspaper profile written ahead of her 2023 tour there said she had been drawn to music from childhood and had sung at musical shows and live social concerts before her national television break. Indian Idol 13 Journey (2022–2023)
The thirteenth season of Indian Idol started on 10 September 2022, with Himesh Reshammiya and Vishal Dadlani on the panel, Neha Kakkar also judging for part of the run, and Aditya Narayan as host. A tribute to Bappi Lahiri gave her another highlight. With his daughter Rema Lahiri present, she sang “Pyaar Kabhi Kam Nahi” from Prem Pratigyaa and “Jawani Jaaneman” from Namak Halaal. Before going on she told the show, according to The Tribune: “Making it to the top eight feels like a dream! When my fans on social media tell me that I inspired them to start singing, it feels fantastic.” Rema answered that “The song selection is fantastic.”
Finale result
Senjuti Das was the last singer eliminated before the finale, which left a top six of Rishi Singh, Deboshmita Roy, Chirag Kotwal, Bidipta, Shivam Singh and Sonakshi Kar. Filmibeat wrote that Bidipta called reaching the finale “surreal”. On 2 April 2023 Rishi Singh of Ayodhya won the trophy, Deboshmita Roy came second and Chirag Kotwal third. Bidipta finished fourth, as third runner-up, and Shivam Singh fifth, as the franchise’s Wikipedia page records. The Quint reported that she and Shivam each received a cheque of Rs 3 lakh, while Rishi took home Rs 25 lakh and a car.

After Indian Idol 13: South Africa Shows
In August 2023 Bidipta travelled with season winner Rishi Singh, runner-up Deboshmita Roy and Superstar Singer 2 singer Mani Dharamkot for the Indian Idols Fantastic 4 Show in South Africa. The Post listed two nights: one at the Globe at Suncoast and the next at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg.
Indian Idol Legends Return (2026)
Sony brought the franchise back on 17 October 2026 with a reunion format called Legends Return. The season invites back 24 singers from earlier editions and has them sing as 12 duos. Saturdays and Sundays at 8 PM is its slot on Sony, and Sony LIV streams it, as reported by Adgully.
