Career

MTV Roadies 4 and her years as a VJ

Roadies 4, which went out under the title Roadies – Road to Fear, aired on MTV from 11 November 2006 to 3 March 2007. Rannvijay Singh presented it, Raghu Ram and Nikhil Chinapa were the judges, and Anthony Yeh won, with Bani as runner-up, as Wikipedia’s Roadies season list records.

Finishing second did not slow her down. MTV brought her back as an anchor, and a 2016 Times of India profile lists Roadies seasons 6, 7, 9 and 10 as the ones she hosted. In her own words, she “hosted the next four seasons of Roadies, and launched my career in a big way.”

Khatron Ke Khiladi 4 and other reality shows

In April 2011 The Times of India reported that she had signed up as a contestant on Akshay Kumar’s adventure show Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 4, which was shot in Cape Town. The same paper’s 2016 profile adds that she also competed on I Can Do That.

Bigg Boss 10 (2016–17)

Bigg Boss 10 started on Colors TV on 16 October 2016, and Bani was among the housemates who moved in on day one. Her close friend Gauahar Khan, who won the seventh season, talked her into it. “The reason why I entered the show was because Gauahar said that I could do this,” she told Hindustan Times.

She stayed from the first day to the finale on 29 January 2017, when Manveer Gurjar was named the winner and Bani the first runner-up. Lopamudra Raut finished as second runner-up, according to Wikipedia’s season page. After the finale she called the experience “harrowing and challenging” and said, “It’s impossible to have a strategy in this house.”

Bani J in Roadies Rebirth (2026)

About two decades after finishing second on Roadies 4, Bani is back on the show as a gang leader. Roadies Rebirth is the 21st edition, and Rannvijay Singha, who presented her season, is again the host. Episodes air every Friday and Saturday at 7 pm on JioHotstar and MTV from 16 October 2026, UNI reported. Esquire India says the season will stream on Netflix as well, with MTV keeping the TV broadcast.

This season does away with six separate gangs. The six leaders are split into two camps of three:

• OG camp: Nikhil Chinapa, Neha Dhupia and Prince Narula
• NewG camp: Abhishek Malhan, Bani J and Baseer Ali

That puts her up against Nikhil Chinapa, who was one of the judges when she was a Roadies 4 contestant. According to IANS, auditions were planned for Delhi, Chandigarh, Kolkata and Pune in September. In a pre-season promo described by MediaInfoline, Bani and Baseer Ali square off in a push-up challenge. Rannvijay summed up the new set-up: “Three OGs will face three NewGs and this is a dynamic we’ve never seen before on Roadies.”

Fitness, Body Image and Tattoos

Bani is as well known for her physique as for her shows. The Times of India calls her a “fitness freak” known for her tattoos and abs. In her Hindustan Times Brunch piece she wrote that she has a muscular body “by choice”, that she began training seriously at 19, and that a well-known casting director once mocked her for it. Her answer to critics: “So what if I’m a woman and I have muscles?”

Each of her tattoos has a story. In a 2011 Times of India interview she said she got her “karma” tattoos in Thailand. The words “Rise” and “Shine” are inked on her wrists.
