Early Life, Family and Education

Baseer Ali was born on 5 September 1995 in Hyderabad, Telangana. Both Wikipedia and a 2025 Moneycontrol profile give that date. Moneycontrol adds that he went to Ivy League Academy and graduated from St. Mary’s College, Hyderabad, and that he is affectionately known as “Baseer Bob”.

He was a YouTuber before he was a TV face. The Indian Express says he began as a content creator known for his Hyderabadi vines. In a 2017 interview with The Hindu, he explained that a skit he and his friends made in the Deccani language did so well that they started a channel called Habibi Vines. They later stopped it.

His mother has been a constant in his story. The Hindu reported that getting her approval to go on MTV Roadies Rising was “a long ordeal”. He told the paper, “It took a lot of time to get her permission. I was sure to be in Roadies, but not without her permission.” By the end of that season, he said, she was finally happy with her son. He told The Times of India in December 2024 that Christmas is a double celebration for him because it is also his mother’s birthday.

Career

Roadies Rising and Splitsvilla 10 (2017)

Baseer first came to national attention in 2017 on MTV Roadies Rising, where he finished as the runner-up. The Hindu reported that he auditioned as a lean “chota YouTuber” and worked his way into Prince Narula‘s gang. To keep up, he said, “I had put on 10 kilos, built the required muscle and ran 6 km everyday for stamina.”

The same year he went straight into MTV Splitsvilla X. According to the Hindustan Times, he and Naina Singh beat Priyank Sharma and Divya Aggarwal in the finale, which was hosted by Rannvijay and Sunny Leone.

Hosting and Ace of Space 2 (2018–2019)

His first hosting job came in 2018, when he and Divya Agarwal presented On Road With Roadies on Voot, covering both Roadies Xtreme and Splitsvilla 11. He was back as its host in 2019 for Roadies: Real Heroes, partnered this time by Shruti Sinha.

Later in 2019 he entered Ace of Space 2, set in “Mastermind” Vikas Gupta’s house. Moneycontrol says he spent 72 days in the house. India Today reported that Salman Zaidi won the season, with Adnan Shaikh first runner-up and Baseer second runner-up.

Roadies 18 (2022)

He returned to Roadies as a contestant in 2022 and finished in 7th place in Roadies 18.

Kundali Bhagya (2023–2024)

Baseer made his acting debut in 2023 as Shaurya Luthra in Zee TV’s serial Kundali Bhagya. He was cast opposite Sana Sayyad, who was later replaced by Adrija Roy. He announced his exit in June 2024 and wrapped his role in December 2024, when the show was ending.

Bigg Boss 19 (2025)

Baseer entered Bigg Boss 19, hosted by Salman Khan, at its grand premiere on 24 August 2025, one of 16 housemates. Wikipedia notes that he had turned the show down for two years before saying yes. “My family told me they thought I was ready, and we just did it,” he told The Indian Express before going in.

He became house captain in the second week after winning the captaincy task. On Day 63 he and Nehal Chudasama were evicted together in a double eviction. After leaving, he called the “lack of votes” reason unfair and pointed out that 2 million people had seen his Instagram story, IBTimes reported.

Baseer Ali in Roadies Rebirth (2026)

The contestant who finished second on Roadies Rising in 2017 is back on the franchise as a gang leader. Roadies Rebirth, the 21st edition, again has Rannvijay Singha as host. New episodes go out on Fridays and Saturdays at 7 pm, starting 16 October 2026, on JioHotstar and MTV, UNI reported; Esquire India says Netflix will carry it too, and MTV keeps its TV broadcast.

The format has changed as well. Rather than each leader running a gang of their own, the six leaders form two rival teams of three, the OGs and the NewGs:

  • OG camp: Nikhil Chinapa, Neha Dhupia and Prince Narula
  • NewG camp: Abhishek Malhan, Bani J and Baseer Ali

So Baseer now goes up against Prince Narula, the leader whose gang he fought his way into as a Roadies Rising hopeful in 2017. The September audition rounds were set for four cities: Delhi, Chandigarh, Kolkata and Pune. Speaking to The Telegraph’s t2 in Kolkata, he said, “I have this unique gift of catching the right vibe of the people,” and added that “the show is not about gang leaders; the show is about the Roadies.”

Personal Life

Baseer is close to his mother. She took a long time to agree to Roadies, and he told The Hindu that Splitsvilla “had my mother spinning in anger” before she decided to support him. During Bigg Boss 19 his closeness to Nehal Chudasama drew a lot of attention. After his eviction he told interviewers there was never any “love” between them and that they would stay friends and cordial outside the house, IBTimes reported. No reliable outlet has named a current girlfriend or wife.

Lesser-Known Facts

  • He topped The Times of India’s Hyderabad’s Most Desirable Man list in 2017 and was ranked 17th in its India’s Most Desirable Men list that year.
  • His first YouTube channel, Habibi Vines, grew out of a single Deccani-language skit.
  • Moneycontrol describes him as open to more acting work, and given the choice he would pick a villain’s part over a hero’s.
