Early Life and Background
Danish comes from Muzaffarnagar in western Uttar Pradesh. That is the hometown listed against his name in the Indian Idol 12 results on Wikipedia.
Very little about his childhood has been reported by mainstream outlets. No news outlet or encyclopedia we could check gives his birth date, so this page leaves his age blank rather than guess. Details that circulate on fan-run profile sites about his schooling and family training have not been confirmed by a news organisation either, and they are left out here until they are.
What he has said in interviews points to a close family. After his wedding he told the Times of India that his parents chose his bride and that the couple would keep living with his mother and father in Mumbai.
Career
Indian Idol 12 (2020–2021)
The twelfth season of Indian Idol started on Sony TV on 28 November 2020 and ran until 15 August 2021, the longest season in the show’s history. Vishal Dadlani, Neha Kakkar and Himesh Reshammiya were the judges and Aditya Narayan was the host. Danish later said Neha Kakkar had been a mentor to the contestants on the show.
He quickly became known as the season’s qawwali voice. When singer Sukhwinder Singh came on as a guest for the finale, he singled out Danish, saying there were contestants “like Mohd Danish who sing good qawwali”, according to Gulf News. The two performed Chaiyan Chaiyan and Lagan Lagi together on that episode. Not every moment was serious: in August 2021, Amar Ujala ran a story on Danish turning into a lovestruck “Kabir Singh” on stage after seeing Kiara.
Danish made the top six alongside Pawandeep Rajan, Arunita Kanjilal, Sayli Kamble, Nihal Tauro and Shanmukha Priya. In the finale, Pawandeep won, Arunita was first runner-up and Sayli second runner-up. Danish finished as third runner-up, in fourth place, and he and Nihal each received a cheque for ₹3 lakh, as reported by The Quint and The Hitavada.
Touring after the show
The season’s top singers stayed together on stage after the finale. In December 2021, Filmibeat reported that Danish, Pawandeep, Arunita and Sayli had performed at several venues in the United Kingdom and had then moved on to Canada.
Superstar Singer captain (2022 and 2024)
Sony then brought him to its children’s singing show Superstar Singer. In Season 2, which ran from 23 April to 3 September 2022, he was one of the team captains along with Pawandeep Rajan, Arunita Kanjilal and Sayli Kamble. He returned as a captain for Season 3, which began on 9 March 2024 with Neha Kakkar as super judge, this time alongside Pawandeep, Arunita, Sayli and Salman Ali.
Ahead of Season 3 he shared some advice for young singers with IANS: “Stay true to your passion, be persistent, and never stop learning.” He also urged them to learn every genre, because versatility matters for a singer.
Sufiyana Mehfil and live shows
In September 2024 he opened his own India tour, Sufiyana Mehfil, at Phoenix Market City in Mumbai, according to a press release from the organisers. The set mixed Sufi numbers with Bollywood songs, and Mika Singh dropped in at the start of the evening to wish him luck.
In May 2026, a clip of him singing Aigiri Nandini, a devotional hymn to Goddess Durga, spread widely on social media, as reported by The CSR Journal. Many viewers said it showed a sense of unity beyond religion.
Indian Idol 17: Legends Return (2026)
Season 17 is built around familiar faces: singers who won, came close or reached the finals in earlier seasons get another go at the trophy. Episodes go out at 8 pm every weekend on Sony Entertainment Television, with Sony LIV carrying them online from the 17 October 2026 launch, and Himesh Reshammiya sits on the panel again, The Daily Jagran reported. See the full Indian Idol 17 contestants list for all the pairs.
Danish is listed as the Season 12 finalist in the returning cast. An IANS report carried by NewKerala names him alongside Season 1 winner Abhijeet Sawant, Season 1 runner-up Amit Sana, Season 10 winner Salman Ali and Season 13 finalist Bidipta Chakraborty, among others. His old Idol 12 rival Sayli Kamble is also in the line-up. Himesh Reshammiya, who judged his first Idol season, is back at the judges’ table.

Personal Life
Danish married Farheen in late April 2023. He kept the engagement quiet: in his first interview after the wedding, given to the Times of India, he said the nikaah had been fixed before Indian Idol 12 and that nobody from the show knew, because he wanted to keep it low profile.
He described it as an arranged marriage; his parents knew her family and introduced the two. Farheen is the sister of Shadab and Altaf Faridi, and Shadab is a playback singer whose credits include Gunday, Dabangg 2 and Neerja. Guests included Sonu Nigam, Mithoon and Palak Muchhal, Javed Ali, Nihal Tauro and Sayli Kamble, and Outlook, carrying an IANS report, noted that Rakhi Sawant danced to the dhol at the ceremony.
Two days after the wedding he was already on the road, speaking to the paper from Lucknow, where he had a show that day. He said he planned to take his wife to Madina and then to Karbala in Iraq.
