A man posing as a girl isn’t new. Actors have made fortunes for themselves by becoming a person of the other gender. So what is new in Dream Girl? The approach of the filmmakers to make you laugh throughout. It is a film that aims to tickle your funny bone, which it categorically does, and while doing so makes a social commentary that is a very important task for every person in the society to pay heed to. Yet again, it is a masterstroke by Ayushmann Khurrana.
Apart from this, Nushrat Bharucha, she was famously known as the Punchnama Girl takes a break from her negative image and comes as a modern sane girl and performed well in the movie. Annu Kapoor never let anybody down, his efforts to make people happy is always laudable.
Moreover, the story of the movie is written by Nirmaan Singh and Shandliyaa both. Hence, the story idea is simple and tricky as well. At first, it seems a casual case of man posing as a woman to land himself a job, and you indeed wanted it to transcend from there. But sadly, it doesn’t do so with flair. It speaks a bit about society in general but only in parts.
The makers attempt to win your heart with genuine amusing moments through situational comedy but at times, the comedy does get substandard and you are left wanting for more.
Lastly, the overall movie is splendid, A great entertainer though and must watch movie for sure.
