Early Life and Career
Born in Kolkata in a Bengali family, Koena Mitra has learned western dance forms, tennis, swimming, and sports. She did her schooling from South Point High School and completed college from Lady Brabourne College, Kolkata. To pursue a career in acting, she joined Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, Los Angeles.
Koena started modeling when she was in school. She is also crowned with the beauty pageant Gladrags Mega Model India in 2001 and then was featured under top 12 finalists of the competition Miss Intercontinental Pageant in Germany. Throughout her career, she has endorsed several popular brands like Mirinda, beauty products, Maruti Alto, shampoo Clinic All Clear, and more.
She is also starred in some music videos like Akh Teri, a popular song Channo by Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi, and others. Koena first appeared as a guest in the director Ram Gopal Varma’s film Road. But came into light after performing in the film Musafir that featured Sanjay Dutt in a lead role. Koena then appeared in films starring Riteish Deshmukh Apna Sapna Money Money and Fardeen Khan starrer Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena. She made her Tamil debut from the film Ayan and did an item number Honey Honey.
Not many of her fans know that when she went to LA to improve her acting skills she bagged a few projects there. Two of them are Dark Romance and The Story of Naomi. Koena was away from the limelight for a long time but is now making headlines as a participant of the most controversial reality TV show Bigg Boss 13.

At present, Koena is single but dated Turkish guy Mette Merral before. She is fond of animals and loves spending time with dogs. She often posts her pictures with animals on her Instagram account. She is also a gym enthusiast and never misses any workout session. In 2010 she became the topic of town when her nose surgery didn’t go well and had to lose many Bollywood projects. After appearing in movies and videos, Koena for the first time is appearing in the reality show.
