Dimple Yadav is an Indian legislator, and also a member of Parliament. She represents Samajwadi Party.
Dimple is the wife of Akhilesh Yadav, who is former UP Chief Minister and Party chief. She is the daughter-in-law of Mulayam Singh Yadav founder of Samajwadi Party.

Akhilesh came back from Australia after completing his masters in environmental engineering from the University of Sydney. Dimple and Akhilesh met through some common friends in early 90’s and down the years they both fell in love with each other, when Akhilesh was 25 years old and when Dimple was 21 years old.

They didn’t get Mulayam Singh’s approval for marriage, but with the support of Mulayam’s friends and few relatives, they fought against all the odds and got married in November 1999. A lavish wedding was organized for which many Bollywood stars like Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan attended.

Dimple and Akhilesh share the same love and affection till date. Dimple plays a major role in Akhilesh’s life and his decisions too. Akhilesh mentioned in a meeting that, Dimple is his pillar of strength and great support. Though from a non-political family, Dimple gave her best to Akhilesh’s family and became part of the family very soon after the wedding.
Dimple Yadav not only took care of the family and its responsibilities efficiently, but also took part in rallies and political campaigns with the same efficiency. Even though their marriage completed 17 years, Dimple and Akhilesh keeps all the efforts to give time to each other and their kids. They are blessed with three kids, one son and two daughters.
Politics:
In 2009, Dimple Yadav contested in a by-election for the Firozabad Lok Sabha Constituency against the actor and politician Raj Babbar. Because of no support from Mulayam, she couldn’t win the by-election. In 2010, Mulayam openly opposed entry of women into politics, by protesting the women’s reservation bill to be passed in Parliament.

This scenario did not stop Dimple Yadav to go ahead in politics, with the support of the Samajwadi Party in 2012; she got elected in 15th Lok Sabha by-election. From then on there was no setback, and she has been handling different positions in the Uttar Pradesh politics actively.

- In 2014, became member of Standing committee on Water Resources

In 2016-17 Dimple Yadav played a major role of mediator in solving the rift / political battle between her husband and father-in-law. She supported her husband in the assembly elections and also maintained a close relationship with her father-in-law. She made sure her kids visited Mulayam Singh everyday evening and spent quality time with him.
Even they shifted their residence beside to Mulayam’s house so that no one can take advantage the gap which was created between Akhilesh and Mulayam. This helped in bringing back the warmth in the relation between Akhilesh and Mulayam. In 2017, she took active participation in the assembly elections along with her husband.
